The Core Historical Literature of Agriculture (CHLA) is a core electronic collection of agricultural texts published between the early nineteenth century and the middle to late twentieth century. Scholars have selected the titles in this collection for their historical importance. Their evaluations and 4,500 core titles are detailed in the seven volume series The Literature of the Agricultural Sciences, Wallace C. Olsen, series editor.

I'm with darkside. Some really knowledgeable people there and most are extremely happy to help with questions.
You wouldn't believe how it is possible to find someone who has experienced the exact scenario or question you are considering, and often at least one of them is in your area or at least zone. Great site for a newbie with questions.
Also check with your local cooperative extension. Ours has a wealth of local information and the many of the people are very specialized , and they answered all emails too.
